Revitalize Delton Housing Committee Meeting

Members: Marsha Bassett, Jill Steele, Marie Ferris, Shelley Doezema, Nicole Lyke, Christine Zuzga, Don Perry
Discussed current grant opportunities for housing. Reminded all to keep looking for land or a house for a Blight or Shuffle House in Delton and report to Bonnie Gettys or Jennifer Heinzman. Marie will talk to Jennifer about the availability of funding remaining for a Blight House in Delton as there is confusion whether funda are still available.
Noted that Ben Clark of Clark Construction will be building a development on 20 acres at the corner of Keller and Norris Roads. Dewey McCoy connecting with Matt Hollander, a local developer, to discuss the Feasibility Study and plans for housing for Delton.
Those present identified the need to designate a Keeper of Information for housing projects as they come up in the area.
Reported that Jennifer Heinzman, Marsha Bassett, Dewey McCoy, and Bonnie Gettys will be meeting with MEI Board of Directors in a few weeks to discuss a donation for the Feasibility Study, as well as any housing or land they may have for potential housing, and their role in the future of the Delton community as it grows.
Discussed zoning in the area and Jill Steele offered to check on the county zoning map for the main part of Delton to see how zoned.
Discussed talking to farmers with land who might be willing to sell property they have along roads and while maintaining their farmland behind the home properties along the roads. Potentially connect interested farmers with a local developer like Matt Hollander.
Discussed MCHDA housing opportunities for low income families as it is exempt from taxes.
Marsha Bassett will contact Dave Jackson and Pat Buckland about the status of the Downtown Development Authority (DDA).
Next Revitalize Delton Community Meeting has been scheduled for Thursday, March 14 at 6:30 PM in the Delton Kellogg High School LGI.
