Barry County Programs
Brownfield redevelopment authority
Apply for Brownfield funds from Barry Community Foundation and can enter into the program with a contingent offer on property. This program explores whether there has been environmental damage to a property from past contamination and helps to fix issues before building.
Blight Elimination Grant #3
This grant money through the County can be used to rehabilitate blighted houses in the area, but cannot be used to tear a house down. The end goal is that the property is brought back to life and becomes available to homebuyers.
To qualify, the property must be deemed blighted by the county or be without electricity for 12 months.
The county has to pay 2x SEV for the property, and then will come in with contractors and take all the necessary steps to bring it all up to code and make it livable.
This grant will cover the costs that will be lost bringing the house back to life before it is sold to a new buyer.
Blight Elimination Grant #4
The property has to be some sort of industrial place, it can be just a single building or can be an industrial park.
The property can be torn down and rebuilt or rehabilitated with the grant money.
