Revitalize Delton Community Project Board Meeting - 5/9/24
In Attendance - Marsha Bassett, Jerry McCoy, Don Perry, and Sarah Sandell, Ashly Wilson
1. Update on Feasibility Study (From HollyAnn)
- We are nearing completion with our data analysis – I expect this component to be completed in the next +/-10 days.
- It is our goal to have the draft document to you by the end of May. I realize that this is a bit later than expected but we felt it prudent to utilize 1st Quarter 2024 sales and pricing numbers vs. year-end 2023.
- I still have a few calls to make from the list you provided, but those will occur closer to the end of the month as we wrap up our recommendations.
- Please let me know if your group has any questions after your meeting on Thursday.
- Once we get the final results we have to pay the balance due. Between 4,500 - 5,000 still needs to be raised
- Need ideas on how to raise money
- Tiers for funding - what are the benefits of each tier
- One level sponsorship
- Propaganda at the local events (Founders Festival, Hometown Christmas)
- Charity Competition between community members (Pickleball, softball, cornhole)
- Need ideas on how to raise money
- Put out PR explaining what a feasibility study is, why we need it, and what we will benefit from getting the results
- Once we get the final results we have to pay the balance due. Between 4,500 - 5,000 still needs to be raised
2. Update on Scrap Metal Drive
- First bin was $375 and that has been picked up and the check has been written
- Second bin is half full. We won’t know the total until the bin is picked up and weighed by the company.
- Encourage people to clean out their garages and take things to the bin behind the library.
- This is the final bin
4. Update on Recreation Programming
- Julie Aukerman is working on getting some summer fitness and workout classes scheduled
- Proceeds will potentially go towards school supplies for teachers
- Martial arts/pilates/cardio drumming/yoga
- Goal is to get weight room access with new cardio equipment
- Still lots of moving parts so this is not public information to be released yet per Julie
5. Discussion on recruiting new board members with school connections
- School board members
- Young adults who moved to the area
6. Workshop Strategic Plan (Chris not present, Allie’s minutes from last meeting revisited)
- Affirm mission and vision, go back over 3 main areas of focus
- Re-do committee structure and then make an action plan within each committee
- Board representation in all committees
- Vision Statement: Where do we want to go and what do we want to be
- Mission statement: what we will do to get there (vision statement)
- Discussion on Vision Statement
- Want to include school - Marsha
- Want to enrich life for current residents and encourage people to stay around-Allie
- Want to encourage economic growth by offering a healthy and enriched community – Sarah
- Want to attract young families to the school – Dewey
- Discussion on Committee Structure/focus areas
- Recreation focus area
- Parks and rec and gyms, etc.
- Economic development
- Business development, support, etc.
- Community Engagement
- Events (festivals, community events, etc)
- Encouraging residents to get move involved in the community
