Revitalize Delton Community Project Board Meeting June 13, 2024
Present: Allie Rouse, Jerry McCoy, Jill Steele, Ashly Wilson, Don Perry
Absent: Marsha Bassett, Chris Zuzga, Marie Ferris, Sarah Sandell
Feasibility Study
- Concerns about whether data is accurate in study
- Some typos indicate that information was dropped into another study/template and not checked (calling Delton a village, calling Delton, “Salem”, mentions of other state, etc.)
- Don’t believe that census data or average household income is correct
- Need to ask company to review- Dewey will reach out to Holly Ann
- Prices seem very high for Delton for rentals
- We have a duty to seek out affordable options, not to make a profit for developers or just go with what the market dictates
- Places in Marshall just built have lower costs than prospective apartments in the feasibility study
- The study is very focused on residential, not much economic growth/commercial development at all.
o Dewey believes it would cost extra to get these analysises
o Possibly just wait for county-wide study for economic development
§ From Nichole: study is still set to be complete in August, should have a draft available soon that they will send to us.
Funds
- Need better projects before we can ask for money
- Draft facebook posts and emails for funds
- Virtual raffles
- Fundraiser/booths at founders day, brewfest, Oktoberfest
- VFW auction coming up in September- Dewey
- Still need $5,000 for final draft of feasibility study
- Could ask board members to pay that cost
o Idea not supported by other board members
Strategic plan
- Need to get finished in July
